CONSTRUCTION LAW  | Mr. Shine acts for general contractors, suppliers, owners, subcontractors, construction managers, design-builders, financial institutions, etc. His firm provides a full range of construction law services including contract drafting and negotiations, construction claims, trust claims, registrations of Claim for Liens, defence of lien claims and trust claims, delay claims, and surety bond claims. Mr. Shine often negotiates and frequently successfully settles construction disputes.

 

REAL ESTATE  | Mr. Shine acts for clients who are buying and selling houses, condominiums, farms, vacant land, lots, & commercial properties. Mr. Shine also does mortgage work for borrowers and lenders including banks and financial institutions. Mr. Shine assists his clients in the preparation or review of Agreements of Purchase & Sale right to to the final closing of the client’s transaction.

 

CORPORATE & COMMERCIAL  | Mr. Shine’s firm will set up corporations from beginning to end, prepare partnership and shareholder agreements, prepare annual corporate minutes and resolutions, help plan and prepare corporate re-organizations, and help clients wind down their corporations if or when no longer needed.

 

ESTATES AND TRUSTS  | Mr. Shine and his staff work with executors/estate trustees in administering estates and make applications to the Superior Court for probate (Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee with a Will (or without a will), if required. His firm assists executors/estate trustees work through all important steps and procedures in order that estate property can be distributed to beneficiaries. Mr. Shine works with his clients as well as thier financial advisors/accountants and assists in the preparation of setting up living trusts and testamentary trusts.

 

WILLS AND POWERS OF ATTORNEY  |  Mr. Shine reviews his clients needs, expectations, and circumstances and assits in the preparation of Last Will and Testaments, Powers of Attorney for Property, and Powers of Attorney for Personal Care. Regular follow ups and periodic reviews are done to ensure that these important documents always meet the client’s needs.

 

TAX LAW  | Mr. Shine has obtained a Master of Taxation degree from the Faculty of Accounting, University of Waterloo, providing him with extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of Canadian Tax.  Mr. Shine provides full legal services in the area of tax law including organizing and corporate structure; estate and generational tax planning; general tax planning; and tax litigation before the Tax Court of Canada, for both corporate and individual clients.
